Sinus Lift Surgery in Clearwater, FL

Preparing Your Upper Jaw for Successful Dental Implants
If you’ve been told you don’t have enough bone in your upper jaw to support implants, you may be a candidate for a sinus lift. This specialized bone grafting procedure creates the space needed for secure, long-lasting implant placement in the back of the upper jaw.
At Prime Dental Care, we provide gentle, digitally guided sinus lift surgery right here in our Clearwater office—using advanced imaging and precise techniques to ensure your comfort and safety every step of the way.
We proudly serve patients in Clearwater, Safety Harbor, Palm Harbor, Largo, Dunedin, Belleair, and Tampa.

What Is a Sinus Lift?
A sinus lift (also called sinus augmentation) is a minor oral surgery that gently raises the sinus membrane and places bone graft material in the area above the upper back teeth (molars and premolars). This creates enough vertical bone height to securely anchor a dental implant.
It’s commonly recommended when:
- The natural bone is too thin or shallow to support an implant
- Bone has deteriorated due to long-term tooth loss
- The maxillary sinus is too close to the jawbone
- A patient is preparing for implant dentures or full mouth reconstruction
How the Procedure Works
- Advanced Imaging & Planning
We use 3D CBCT scans to precisely measure your bone structure and sinus location. - Grafting Procedure
Through a small opening in the bone, we gently elevate the sinus membrane and insert bone grafting material. - Healing Phase
The graft material integrates with your natural bone over several months, creating a strong foundation for future implant placement.
In many cases, the sinus lift is done as a separate step before placing implants. However, in select cases, it may be performed at the same time as the implant surgery—depending on bone volume and stability.

Sinus Lift FAQs
Will a sinus lift hurt?
No. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, and sedation is available if desired. Most patients report only mild soreness afterward.
How long does healing take?
Most patients need 4–6 months of healing before implants can be placed. This gives your body time to integrate the graft and build strong new bone.
Is a sinus lift always necessary for upper implants?
Not always. We’ll evaluate your bone levels using 3D imaging to determine whether it’s required or if shorter implants or angled placement are possible.
What is the graft material made from?
We use safe, biocompatible materials—either synthetic or donor-derived—based on your health needs and preferences.
Can a sinus lift and implant be done together?
In some cases, yes. If enough native bone is present, the implant may be placed during the same visit. We’ll assess this during your consultation.
